 Queensland painter Bessie Gibson (1868 – 1961) lived in Paris from 1906, exhibiting at the Royal Academy in London and the Old Salon in Paris. She returned to Brisbane in 1947. A tribute exhibition was held by the Queensland Art Gallery in 1958. Gibson’s work is held by the National Gallery of Australia and several state galleries.
