Freda Robertshaw
A pioneering Australian artist, Freda Robertshaw (1917 - 1997) set a record price for a painting by an Australian woman when Australian Beach Scene, 1940, went to auction in 1998. But Robertshaw is perhaps best known for painting the first known nude self-portrait by an Australian woman artist, Standing Nude, 1938. Her work has been exhibited frequently since the 1930s, and is held by the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Art Gallery of South Australia, Queensland Art Gallery, and Tasmania Museum and Art Gallery.
