 John Olsen (b 1928) is one of Australia’s most significant living painters. Returning to Australia in the 1960s after studying in Europe, his expressionistic paintings presented a unique interpretation of the Australian landscape. He won the Wynne Prize in 1969 and the Archibald Prize in 2005. He was made an Order of Australia in 2001. He is represented by the National Gallery of Australia, all state galleries and many regional galleries.
