Norman Lindsay (1879 – 1969) is one of the most recognizable figures of Australian art. A prolific author as well as a watercolour and oil painter, he was additionally notorious for his bohemian lifestyle and public opposition to conservative Australia and ‘wowserism’ of the 1920s and 1930s. His work is represented by the National Gallery of Australia, all state galleries and many regional galleries.
