 George Washington Lambert (1873-1930) was the most prominent Australian artist of the 1920s and 1930s. He was taught by Julian Ashton from 1896 and in 1900 was the first recipient of the New South Wales Society of Artist’s travelling scholarship. He achieved great acclaim as war artist with the Australian Light Brigade during World War I. His work is represented by all Australian state and many regional galleries.
