"Stephen McClymont
has always been an artist of penetrating intelligence
interested in exploring challenging ideas like the nexus
between physical experience and our emotional internalizations
of it. His latest body of work goes beyond personal
and psychological visions to explore metaphysical issues.
Taking inspiration from Plato's simile of the cave, these
works examine the interplay between illusion and reality,
perception and truth. McClymont marshals all of his
technical abilities to create a series of powerful canvases
each of which pulls us toward the exploration of ultimate,
universal truths..."
